NEOC ACTIVATION BEING CONSIDERED TO MANAGE HURRICANE IRMA

Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister, Andrew Skerritt is briefed on Standard Operating Procedures for the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) by Deputy National Disaster Coordinator, Mrs. Claricia Langley-Stevens, at NEMA HQ. Activating the Centre as a focal point for government’s response actions, is being considered by the competent authorities. Based on the most recent updates from the Met Office, Hurricane Irma was churning towards the Leewards with 175mph winds. Persons are advised to activate their own disaster plans and to prepare for the worst case scenario, while hoping for the best. Be safe. Start NOW to plan for the protection and safety of yourselves and your loved ones. The Priority for the Government of St. Kitts-Nevis and certainly for Nema Skn is the preservation of lives, as has been reiterated by the Hon. Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Mitigation Council, Shawn Richards.
